A Tribute to Mama Nutmeg

I am so proud to have been able to help coordinate a community of strangers to come together in a time of need to help relieve the emotional and financial pain of her loss. Thus, making Mama Nutmeg’s candle come to life.

If you know me personally, you’ll know I have a slight obsession with chihuahuas of all shapes and sizes. Tongues out, over-bites - the “uglier” the cuter. I even follow an un-godly amount of instafamous (and not-so instafamous) chi-chis on Instagram and love getting my daily fix.

I began following Mama Nutmeg last year and just fell in love with her. Her posts would continually brighten my day and I couldn’t wait for the next post.

I was deeply saddened the day her account had posted about how she had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia during her dental work, and had to go through great lengths in an effort to save her precious life.

Sadly, many complications did follow and resulted in her owner’s making what I would imagine to be, the most difficult decision ever. I bawled my eyes out the second I saw the next post come out, because I just knew, without even reading that she was gone.

Mama leaves behind a legacy - she brightened the day of so many far and wide- and I really think she knew it. I think she knew that everyone out there, living their crazy lives could have used just a little dose of Mama Nutmeg on such a regular basis. A small, yet mighty wonder such as Mama Nutmeg herself will forever stay in our hearts and in our thoughts.

How could we forget the Queen?

So I give you a tribute to Mama Nutmeg and her life; a candle.
Small, yet strong just like her.
Warm and loving, just like her.
A light that shines, even when in the dark.
Just like her.

xoxo -J

Happy New Year!

I don’t think I’ve really had a New Year’s resolution. But in 2018, my candle business really took off, more than it ever had before. It gave me so much motivation and all of the beautiful people who believed in what I was doing, gave me so much motivation to take it even further.

I decided that in 2019, I would finally create a legit website (after not having one since I began in 2011), I would have a logo made and that I would make it a goal to sell candles all year round - as opposed to only Winter which was my only time of focus for “candle season” in the past.

So here I am now, already making some of those goals happen. If you are reading this, thank you. And you are probably seeing the very start of my new website with little glitches and errors in between, but know this is a huge accomplishment for me!

Thank you for taking the time and for believing in a mom and her little candle business.

Happy New Year
